This module covers the sources and traditions of Islam. The life of Muhammad and the key events in the history of Islam will be explored. The Qur'an is explored, along with the sayings of Muhammad, and Shari'a law. In addition, the major traditions of Islam are explained and notable practices, such as the Five Pillars, the pattern of the Muslim year, and traditions of Muslim education. There is also some explanation of key issues in Muslim theology.

This module introduces the critical-historical study of the first three gospels in order to construct a portrait of Jesus and his message. As much emphasis is paid to the particular theology and messages of Matthew, Mark and Luke, as it is to historical questions. Following an introduction to critical study, themes to be explored are: the place of Jesus within the Judaism of his time; Jesus' eschatological preaching; Mark's Jesus; Matthew's Jesus; the Sermon on the Mount; parables; Jesus' politics; and the passion.
